Wynona C. Anderson, 71 of Stronghurst, Illinois died at 9:56 p.m. Friday November 16, 2012 in rural Stronghurst, Illinois. She was born April 7, 1941 in Bushnell, Illinois, the daughter of Oscar and Roxie Gittings Evans. On February 18, 1962, she married Guy H. Anderson in Carman, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1995.

Wynona was a 1959 graduate of Terre Haute, Illinois High School and received an associate degree in accounting from Gem City Business College in Quincy, Illinois. She had worked as a bookkeeper for Knutstrom Chevrolet in Stronghurst, Westland Ford in West Burlington, and Peppers International also in West Burlington. She and her husband owned a convenience store in Konawa, Oklahoma for several years and also managed properties for the Motel 6 company in several locations. Most recently, she worked for the Henderson County Health Department in Gladstone, Illinois, retiring in 2006. She was a member of the Carman United Methodist Church and served as Church Treasurer for several years. She was a collector of Santa Claus figurines and was an avid quilt maker. She loved to travel and do yard work, and her summer sausage and cheese balls were famous at family gatherings.

Survivors include her mother of Lomax, IL., two sons- Tony (Erin) Anderson of Stronghurst, Tracy (Sharon) Anderson of Cairo, GA., two daughters- Temple (Troy Greenig) Anderson of Stronghurst, Tiffany ( Ellis III) Vancil of Fort Walton Beach, FL., eleven grandchildren- Thomas Clarke, Katlyn Anderson, Devon Stivers, Courtney Noble, Shane Anderson, Ricky Wells, Sierra Wells, Chantal Carnes, Shelby (Brian) Van Ackern, Morgan Vancil, Taylor Vancil, three brothers- LaMarr (Marilyn) Evans of Biggsville, IL., LaRoy (Connie) Evans of Brighton, Colorado, Rick (Melanie) Evans of Lomax, IL., Roxann Tipton of Clarksville, AR., and Carmella (Raymond) Hollaway of Knoxville, AR., and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, father, one sister- RoEllen Andrews, and one nephew - Craig Evans.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m, Tuesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. The funeral for Wynona Anderson will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday November 21, 2012 in the Carman United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Hartman officiating. Burial will follow in the Carman Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Carman United Methodist Church and the Henderson County Health Department.
