William Anthony "Tony" Markey

William A. Tony Markey, age 70 of Dallas City, Illinois died at 8:33 p.m. Tuesday November 16, 2010 at his home. He was born November 20, 1939 in Dallas City, the son of Paul and Grace Byers Markey. On April 28, 1962, he married Priscilla Gooding in Dallas City. She preceded him in death on March 4, 1995. On September 22, 1995, he married Alene Todd.

Tony was employed as a millwright for J.I. Case Company in Burlington for thirty one years, retiring in 1992. In 2000, he and his wife opened Alenes Heart Of Gold quilting store in Dallas City. He was a member of UAW Local 807 in Burlington, Iowa, the Alleman Council of the Knights Of Columbus #1853 of Nauvoo, IL., and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Dallas City. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, camping, his grandchildren, and helping others.

Survivors include his wife- Alene, three daughters- Joanne (Ron) Brown of Elizabeth City, NC., Jacqueline (Roger) Countryman of Lomax, IL., Christina Markey of Fort Madison, IA., two sons- Paul Markey of Dallas City, Christopher (Muranda) Markey of Anderson, SC., one step son- Dennis (Karen) Dehner of Burlington, IA., three step daughters- Diana (Bob) Ramsden of Grayslake, IL., Donna (Mark) Muhleman and Darlene (Larry) Fox, both of Stronghurst, IL., twenty grandchildren, ten step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, nine step great grandchildren, three sisters - Kathryn (Ed) Symmonds and Dorothy Johnson both of Dallas City, Mary (Jim) Rees of Ferris, IL., three brothers- Lester (Frances) Markey and John (Dolores) Markey, both of Dallas City, IL., Leon (Charlotte) Markey of Belleview, FL., and one sister in law- Patsy Markey of West Burlington, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, one son- Gail Markey and two brothers- Frank and Joseph Markey.

The Rosary will be recited at 5:45 p.m. Friday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, followed by visitation with the family until 8:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas City with Father Tony Trosley. Burial will be in Gittings Mound Cemetery, rural Dallas City. Memorials have been established for Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Henderson County Hospice.
