William L. "Bill" Greenig, 81, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away at 12:18 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2023 at The Elms in Macomb, Illinois.

Bill was born January 11, 1942 in Macomb, Illinois, the son of Charlie "Buck" and Sadie (McQuaid) Greenig. On December 8, 1962 he married Connie Malmburg in Burlington, Iowa. She survives.

Bill attended Oak Hill Country School, near LaHarpe. He began farming at a young age and would continue farming all of his life. He loved his job. He also sold Wayne's Feed, Cargill Seeds, Beck's Seed and McCallister Seeds and was a commercial livestock hauler for many years. He always had one of his beloved Labrador Retrievers with him.

Mr. Greenig was a member of the Terre Haute United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Connie; two daughters: Joan (James) Mohr of LaHarpe and Diane "Dinah" (Andrew); one son: Troy Greenig of LaHarpe; three grandchildren: Justin (Amanda) Mohr of LaHarpe; Morgan (Nathan) Parker of Quincy and Tiffany (Mat) Kissinger of Bentley and 8 great-grandchildren: Sawyer and Sage Mohr, Jayce and Peyton Parker and Brinley, Cohen, Knoxen and Remi Kissinger.

He was preceded in death by his sister: Betty Bates.

Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 21, 2023 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 22, 2023 at the Terre Haute United Methodist Church in Terre Haute, Illinois, with Rev. A. Lee Unger officiating. Burial will follow in LaHarpe Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established for the Terre Haute United Methodist Church or the LaHarpe Ambulance Service.
