William Gerald Bill Ferrill, 65, of Dallas City, IL, passed away Monday, August 1, 2016, at his home.

Bill was born on April 6, 1951 in LaHarpe, IL the son of Bobby and Connie Logan Ferrill. On February 5, 1975 he married Rhonda Campbell in Kingston, IA. They later divorced.

He began his work career working for the Des Moines County Sheriffs Office as a deputy, then an investigator, and lastly, the chief deputy. He then worked as a deputy sheriff for Hancock County before retiring after 33 years of service. Bill coached local sports for many years including summer leagues and for Nauvoo-Colusa and Dallas City High Schools. Mr. Ferrill loved the St. Louis Cardinals. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, helping kids in need and especially time spent with his grandson.

Survivors include his mother, Connie Ferrill of Dallas City, son, Ronald Ferrill of Dallas City, daughters, Megan Woodard of Burlington, IA, Connie (Bryan) Wiley of Carman, IL, sons, Robert Archibald of Nebraska and Jason Archibald of Colorado, daughter, Nicole Andrews of Fort Madison, IA, two grandchildren, William Woodard and Ashlynn Wiley, one sister, Kathy (Dennis) Brumbaugh of Dallas City, three brothers, Steve (Yada) Ferrill of St. Louis, MO, Gary (Tina) Ferrill of Bangor, ME, Greg (Deanna) Ferrill of Dallas City, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister in infancy, Becky.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2016 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Marshall Jackman officiating. Burial will follow at Myers Cemetery, near Dallas City. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for his grandchildren.
