Mr. Wesley R. Collins, 85, of LaHarpe, IL passed away at 9:50 PM Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa following complications from the flu.

He was born August 27, 1929 in LaHarpe, the son of Howard B. And Delpha Owsley Collins. On April 12, 1952 he married Lois Bennett in Dillon, South Carolina.

Mr. Collins served in the US Marine Corps from 1951 - 1953. He worked at Champion International in Burlington for 25 years, retiring in 1985. He then worked for Little Brothers Plumbing and Heating in LaHarpe until 2009. He was a member of the LaHarpe Christian Church.

Surviving are his wife, Lois, one son, Larry (Brenda) Collins of Valrico, Florida, four grandchildren, Ryan Collins, Jon Collins, Sarah Schmeer and Ben Collins and four great-grandchildren, Jacob, Tyler, Jordan and Lindsi Collins.

He was preceded in death by one son, David Collins and three brothers, Keith Collins and two in infancy.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the LaHarpe Cemetery with Nate McCarter officiating. There will be no formal visitation but friends are welcome to call at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe anytime Monday between 2:00 and 8:00 PM. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Christian Church.
