Wayne Clinton "Catfish" Stimpson

Wayne C. Catfish Stimpson, 85 of Burlington, Iowa, died at 10:43 a.m. Friday November 29, 2013 in the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa. He was born August 27, 1928 on a houseboat in the Mississippi river, near Carman, Illinois the son of Elmer and Naomi Siens Stimpson. On March 17, 1951, he married Mabel Marie Rice in Burlington. She preceded him in death on February 12, 2003. On June 27, 2008, he married Darlene Milks in Burlington. She preceded him in death on December 12, 2010.

Wayne served in the United States Air Force for eight years. He was employed for many years at the Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant in Middletown, Iowa. He was a member of the Burlington Eagles Club and the Hy-Vee Liars Club. He enjoyed fishing, duck hunting and the outdoors. He was also an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.

Survivors include one daughter- Patricia Barnoske of Wisconsin Rapids, WI., nine grandchildren, twenty three great grandchildren, thirty four great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wives, parents, one daughter- Josephine Marie Hampton, and two brothers- Dale and Robert Stimpson.

Visitation will be from 9:30 until 11:00 a.m. Tuesday December 3, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Kendall Hetrick will officiate. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the Burlington Eagles Club immediately following the service. Condolences may be left at banksandbeals.com.
