Wanda Lou Booton
Wanda Lou Booton, age 80, of rural Gladstone, Illinois died at 1:08 p.m. Monday March 28, 2011 in the OSF St. Francis Hospital in Peoria, Illinois. She was born November 15, 1930 near Stronghurst, Illinois, the daughter of Elbert G. and Wilma E. Burrell Hartman. On July 17, 1949, she married Earl Booton in rural Stronghurst.
Wanda was a graduate of Stronghurst High School. She lived most of her life on the family farm northwest of Stronghurst. She was active in the Henderson County Fair, entering baked goods, collectibles, and special projects. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends, and never missed a sporting event that involved her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Stronghurst United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, one daughter - Martha Tomek of West Burlington, Iowa, one son - Wendell (Connie) Booton of Stronghurst, two grandchildren- Ryan (Jessica) Booton of Stronghurst, Robin (Jeffrey) Laverty of Weatherford, Texas, and three great grandchildren - Corinne and Colby Booton, and Kylee Laverty. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers- Paul Hartman and Elbert Hartman Jr.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday April 1, 2011 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. Burial will be in the Olena Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Banks & Beals, where the family will be present from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Memorials have been established for the M.S.T. Fire Department of Stronghurst and the Stronghurst Ambulance Service. Condolences may be left at www.banksandbeals.com.
