Virginia R. "Jean" Kukuk

Mrs. Virginia R. Jean Kukuk, 86, of Dallas City, IL passed away at 2:45 a.m. Thursday, August 14, 2014 at her home.

Jean was born on April 20, 1928 in Dallas City the daughter of Virgil L. and Ruth Elma Nicol Logan. On November 25, 1954 she married Merle G. Kukuk in Dallas City. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1999.

She was a life long resident of Dallas City. She graduated from Dallas City High School in 1946. She worked for Sheaffer Pen Co. in Ft. Madison, IA for many years, and later for the Dallas City School District, where she was head of the school cafeteria. Jean was a member of the Dallas City First Christian Church where she was in charge of the nursery for many years. She had a love for animals, especially cats and dogs.

Survivors include one son, Jon (Lisa) Kukuk of Savannah, GA, two daughters, Sheryl (Gary) Dickenson of Beacon, IA and Debra (Bob) Lahvic of Knoxville, IA, one sister, Constance Connie Ferrill of Dallas City, three brothers, Gerald Jerry Logan of Carthage, IL, David Logan of Mendon, LA and Robert Bob Logan of Burlington, IA, six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Merle, one granddaughter, Kari Lahvic and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 18, 2014 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. Burial will be held at Harris Cemetery, Dallas City. A visitation with the family will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the Lee County Hospice.
