Virginia Josephine Brown

, 91 of rural Stronghurst, Illinois died at 10:56 p.m. Wednesday September 19, 2012 at her home. She was born July 13, 1921 near Stronghurst, the daughter of Hugh O. and Myrtle Ingram Smith. She was married to Richard R. Brown. He preceded her in death in 1987.

Virginia received her Bachelor Degree and Masters Degree in Education from Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. She taught school in New Mexico and Kansas City and later was principal in the Raytown, Missouri School District for twenty five years. She was a member of the Terre Haute United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one sister- Jeanne Koutsky of Moline, Illinois, one nephew- John (Cheryl) Koutsky of Milan, Illinois, one niece- Sally Smith of Clifton, Virginia, one great nephew, four great great nephews and two great great nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother- Ralph Smith and one sister- Maxine Smith.

Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Friday At Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, where the family will be present from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. The funeral for Virginia Brown will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Banks & Beals in Stronghurst. Burial will follow in the Terre Haute Cemetery, Terre Haute, Illinois. A memorial fund has been established for the Terre Haute United Methodist Church.
