Viola Jane Yeazle, age 89 of LaHarpe, Illinois died at 6:50 p.m. Monday May 23, 2011 in the Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb, Illinois. She was born May 25, 1921 in Greenview, Illinois, the daughter of Caliph L. and Nancy Garner Davis. On July 18, 1939, she married Edward A. Johnson. He preceded her in death. She later married LaVerne Yeazle. He also preceded her in death.
Viola lived most of her life in Lincoln and Sterling, Illinois. She had resided in LaHarpe the past seven years. She was employed at Northwestern Steel and Wire in Sterling for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved to paint, draw, dance, read and do puzzles.
Survivors include two daughters- Naomi Veff of LaHarpe, Carol Sue Johnson of the state of Washington, one son - Michael E. Johnson of Burlington, Kansas, six grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, one sister - Iva Jean Goretski of Buffalo, Illinois, and three brothers- James Davis of Sullivan, Illinois, Samuel Davis of Dawson, Illinois, and Caliph Lee Davis of Lincoln, Illinois. Besides her husbands, she was preceded in death by one daughter- Merry Ann Johnson and one son- James Edward Johnson.
Cremation rites have been accorded. There will be a family gathering at the Judy Johnson home in rural Lincoln, Illinois at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday May 28, 2011. Interment of the ashes will be in the Mount Pulaski Illinois Cemetery at a later date.
