Velda Viola Hull Wright, 96, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away at 4:20 a.m. Monday, October 13, 2025 at Goldwater Care in Roseville, Illinois.

Velda was born Sunday, June 23, 1929 in Burnside, Illinois, the daughter of Virgil and Vivian Hull.

She attended grade school at Victory Country School followed by two years of high school at Burnside and then two years at LaHarpe High School, graduating in 1946.

Velda married Glenn Wright on May 12, 1948 at the Burnside Christian Church.

Although never holding a paid position she sold Tupperware for several years and babysat. She enjoyed bowling for many years. She was a member of LaHarpe Christian Church.

After her husband and parents' deaths, she devoted many hours volunteering at the Davier Care Center and Senior Center. She served as Chairman of the Community Council and was elected President of LaHarpe Senior Citizens in 2003.

Preceded in death by her husband, parents, one granddaughter: Ashley Wright; infant brother, and sister, Vernice Julia in 1949.

Surviving are two sons: Allen (Faith) Wright of Sierra Vista, Arizona and Barry (Joanna) Wright of LaHarpe; four grandchildren: Daniel Wright, Jon Wright, Dr. Jarrod (Dr. Katherine) Wright and Megan (Chris) Atkinson; two great-granddaughters: Madyson Wright and Annalee Atkinson; two step-granddaughters: Miranda Phillips and Lindsey Myers and one brother: Virden (Allison) Hull of Crystal Lake, Illinois.

Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at LaHarpe Cemetery with Pastor Nate McCarter officiating.
