Mrs. V. Darlene Purdy, 89, of Macomb, Illinois, formerly of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Monday, January 23, 2012 at 6:30 AM at the Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb.

She was born October 4, 1922 in LaHarpe, the daughter of Thomas and Cora Bennett Harding. On March 8, 1941 she married L. Murrell Purdy in Keokuk, Iowa. He preceded her in death on July 24, 2000.

Mrs. Purdy helped her husband on the farm and was a member of the McDonough County Home Extension. She was also a member of the LaHarpe Christian Church where she served as a Deaconess. She was president of the residents council at Heartland Health Care Center.

Surviving are one daughter, Aldena (Rodney) Everhart of Chester, New Jersey, one son, Lynn (Connie) Purdy of Macomb, 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, one brother, Bill Harding of New Castle, Oklahoma and her sister-in-law, Mildred Harding of Decatur, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one brother, Vilas Harding.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, January 26, 2012 at the LaHarpe Christian Church with Tom Van Meter officiating. Burial will be in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 PM Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Wednesday. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Christian Church or the Activities Fund at Heartland Health Care Center.
