Thurman E. "Dick" Cox

Thurman E. Dick Cox age 83 of rural Lomax, Illinois died Monday August 29, 2011 in an ATV accident at his farm. He was born October 17, 1927 near Terre Haute, Illinois, the son of Hope and Gracie Cox. On December 19, 1946, he married Mable Good in Gladstone, Illinois. She preceded him in death on January 21, 2008.

Mr. Cox farmed all of his life near Lomax. He loved hunting, trapping, gardening, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include one daughter - Dixie (Jack) Todd of Lomax, IL., one son- Eldon Cox of Kansas City, MO., five grandchildren-Kimberly (Michael) Peters, Wesley (Shelly) Todd, Lori (Mark) Potts, Julie (Jason) Marten, Heather Goodrich, ten great grandchildren- Jacob, Jessica, Zachary, and Lucas Todd, Alyssa Potts, Cheyeanne Hay, Kayla Markey, Andrew, Christopher and Brandon Goodrich, two sisters - Rhoda Burgdorf of Biggsville, IL., Nora Todd of Lomax, IL., and two brothers - Glenn Cox of Roseville, IL. , and Donnie Cox of Keithsburg, IL. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother - Paul Cox and two sisters- Mary and Lily May Cox.

Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. The funeral for Mr Cox will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Banks & Beals with Rev. Algie Peterson officiating. Burial will be in the Carman Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Carman United Methodist Church.
