Thomas B. Mueller
Mr. , 74, of LaHarpe, IL passed away Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 5:41 PM at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.
He was born July 10, 1939, in LaHarpe, the son of Dr. B.I. and Flora Mueller. He was first married to Janice Lenix. They later divorced. He then married Earlene (Haynes) Yocum. They later divorced.
Tom was a 1957 graduate of LaHarpe High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. Earlier in life he worked at the Hamilton and Miller Grocery Store in Stronghurst, IL. He attended Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL and received a degree as a lab and x-ray technician in Minneapolis, MN. He then worked at the Mary Davier Hospital in LaHarpe and the Burlington Medical Center. Following his retirement from Burlington Medical center he worked for Farm King Supply.
Tom enjoyed bass fishing, the guys at the ruttin buck cabin and telling stories.
He is survived by one son, Steven (Melissa) Mueller of Byron, MN, three grandchildren, Nate, Lucas and Hannah Mueller, three step-children, David Yocum of Dallas City, IL, Bonnie Yocum of LaHarpe and Cathy (Randy) Hensley of LaHarpe, three step-grandchildren, Joel, Jennifer and Jacob Hensley, three sisters, Nancy Woodside of Mt. Carroll, IL, Mary Ann (Chuck) Lindgren of Maquoketa, IA and Susan,(Jeff) Westbrooks of Stratford, OK and two brothers, Boyd (Judy) Mueller of LaHarpe and Philip (Anne) Mueller of Springfield, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
His body has been donated to the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe, with Rev. Bruce Goettsche officiating. A flag presentation will be conducted by the LaHarpe American Legion Post 301. The family will meet with friends immediatley following the service. A memorial fund has been established for improvements at the Dr. and Mrs. B.I. Mueller Wildlife Area (at the LaHarpe Reservoir) or the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.
