Obituary

Terry L. Myers, 76, of Stronghurst, IL passed away at 6:25 p.m. Thursday April 19, 2018 at his home. He was born March 28, 1942 in Quincy, IL, the son of Robert and Evelyn White Myers. On November 4, 1961, he married Joyce Ann Robb in Yarmouth, IA. She preceded him in death on September 20, 1991. On November 21, 1992, he married Angela Corzatt Jack in Stronghurst.

Terry worked in Burlington, IA for 32 years at Sylvania Corporation, Iowa Army Ammunitions Plant, and J.I. Case Company. He also farmed in Henderson County from 1964 until his retirement on 2010. He was a DNR Hunter Safety instructor from 1975 until present, and was a life endowment member of the National Rifle Association. He was a life member of A.F. & A.M. Lodge #123 of Oquawka, IL, LaHarpe Chapter 111, Royaland Select Masters of Illinois #117, and Knights Templar in Commandery #8.

He was a member of several local gun clubs and was founder and one of the coaches of the West Central #235 Trap Shooting Team. He also served on the Henderson County Board for many years, resigning recently due to his health.

Survivors include his wife, Angela, one son, Jeff Myers of Media, IL, one daughter, Jacqueline Myers of Stronghurst, three step sons, David Jack of Stronghurst, Steven (Christy) Jack of Stronghurst, Brian Jack of Brownsville, TX, three grandchildren, Haley, Alex and Alisha Smothers, nine step grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, two brothers, Rodney (Laurie) Myers of LaHarpe, Thomas Myers of Stronghurst, one sister, Ramona (Bernie) Kremer of Louisville, KY, one cousin, who was like a brother to him, Robert (Lynn) Boucard, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Joyce, one sister, Shirley Myers, and one cousin, Bonnie Morrell.

The funeral service for Mr. Myers will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Steve Minkler officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery, near Media. Masonic Rites will be at 5:45 p.m. Monday, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials have been established for the American Cancer Society and Henderson County Health Department Hospice and Home Health Care.
