Leona I. Tanner

Mrs. Leona I. Tanner, 85, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 9:15 P.M. at her home.

She was born February 7, 1922 in Macon County, Missouri, the daughter of William Edward and Lottie Craine Turner. On November 11, 1939 she married John Ernest Tanner in Dallas City.

She enjoyed gardening, canning and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, one son, John Edward Tanner of Niota, Illinois, three daughters, Sally (Butch) Partin of Winchester, Tennessee, Pamela (David) Carpenter of LaHarpe, Illinois and Natalie (James) Perry of Severna Park, Maryland, 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter, two brothers, Wilbur Turner of Hamilton, Illinois and Wilmer Turner of Kansas and one sister, Marie Larson.

She was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Wendy Gattis, two brothers, Waldo and Lee Turner, two sisters, Dorothy Woodside and Florence Van Houten and one half brother, George Mowry.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday at the Appanoose Cemetery near Niota with Marvin Miller officiating. There will be no visitation. Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City is in charge of arrangements. A memorial fund has been established.
