Mrs. Sydney Lee Kline, 71, of Dallas City, IL, passed away at 8:40 a.m. Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, IA.
She was born on September 27, 1944 in LaHarpe, IL the daughter of Arnold G. and Rowena Blackhurst Pence. She was raised by her step-father and mother, James and Rowena Luder. She was married to Larry Spiker. They later divorced. On December 10, 1982 she married Jack Kline in Lomax, IL, he survives.
Sydney was a 1962 graduate of the Dallas City High School. She had worked at the Bank of Stronghurst for the past 12 years. Mrs. Kline volunteered on the Lomax Ambulance for 17 years. She was a member of the Dallas City American Legion Auxilliary, Dallas City Senior Citizens and the Order of the Eastern Star in Carthage, IL. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening, fishing and camping.
Survivors include her husband, Jack, three daughters, Lari Jo (Jeff) Smith of Smithshire, IL, Traci (Shawn) McKoon of Biggsville, IL and Sadena (Michael) Jackson of Carthage, one step-daughter, Malinda (Greg) Olson of Dallas City, eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, three sisters, Ruth Ann (JB) Smith of Galesburg, IL, Charlene (Harold Northup) Peterson of Dallas City, Arnell (Gus) Campagna of Strongsville, OH and one brother, Dorn Luder of Dallas City.
She was preceded in death by her parents and step-father.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 15, 2016 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Doug Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Harris Cemetery, Dallas City. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Great River Hospice or the St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
