Barbara Jean Shoemaker, 62, of LaHarpe, IL passed away Monday, November 9, 2015 at her daughters house in San Antonio, TX.

Barbara Jean (Branom) Shoemaker was born March 26, 1953 in Aurora, Illinois to Graydon and Nellie Fyffe Branom. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth.

On May 20, 1989, Barbara was united in marriage to Danny Lee Shoemaker in Carman, Illinois. They made their home in Terre Haute, Illinois.

Barbara devoted her life to being a good mother to her children, a supportive wife and serving the Lord through her participation in church activities. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.

Since her heart attack in January 2015 Barbara struggled to regain her former self. In her final weeks she enjoyed attending church at Cornerstone Church in San Antonio and going shopping every Saturday. She had learned to walk using only her cane and was proud of her progress from her days in rehab.

Survivors include her children: Candace and husband Brett McAlpine of San Antonio, Daniel Shoemaker and wife Haley of Macomb, Joseph Shoemaker and wife Cassie of Macomb; 4 grandchildren Jesse, Joshua, Rachel and Graydon; 1 great grandson James; sister, Anne White of Aurora; and many friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, a sister and her husband.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2015 at the LaHarpe Christian Church with Nate McCarter officiating. Interment will follow at the Terre Haute Cemetery, Terre Haute, IL. A memorial fund has been established. Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe is in charge of arrangements.
