Jeffrey W. Sharpe

Jeffrey Wade Sharpe, 46, died on May 19, 2015 in Lynn (North Shore Boston), MA. Born April 25, 1969 in the Chicago area, he spent most of his school years in St. Louis. He graduated from DeSmet Jesuit HS in 1987 and attended both St. Louis University and University of Missouri-Columbia. He enlisted in the Navy, serving as a damage control technician on the USS San Diego during Operation Desert Storm from 1988-1992. During his service, he received numerous commendations and awards including Outstanding Recruit of Company 191.

After his move to Boston, Jeffrey worked with the jobless, the homeless and immigrants via numerous non-profit organizations. He developed programs to teach job-related computer skills to allow his students to utilize technology to find employment. At the same time, he was a successful, self-taught futures trader, a long time passion.

Jeffrey struggled with alcoholism (an insidious disease only truly understood by those also afflicted) and bipolar disorder for most of his life. He utilized every resource available to overcome these afflictions that so often interfered with his life and passions. Unfortunately when alcoholism is fueled by bipolar, it becomes nearly impossible to defeat. Jeff didn't try to die, but tried to LIVE and fought his entire life to enjoy his simple life. Sadly, the seizure took him from us this time.

There were many periods, however, when he enjoyed the things he most loved.He loved bicycling, camping, hiking, motorcycles, tennis, reading, music and meditation as well as long walks on the beach just outside his front door. He loved to challenge himself by learning new things-the most recent of which was kite boarding. He was planning to get his new dream motorcycle this summer.

Jeff is dearly loved by his mother, Barbara Smith Sharpe; his sister and brother-in-law, Kimberly Sharpe Nazaruk and Rick Nazaruk; nephews Adam and Corey Nazaruk; and niece, Chelsea Nazaruk. He is preceded by his father, Dennis Brooks Sharpe; and his grandparents, Charles and Shirley Smith and Robert and Christine Sharpe.

A private family service will be held in LaHarpe, IL where he will be laid to rest beside his father.
