Sharon Marie Poindexter, 83, of Niota, Illinois, passed away at 1:24 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2026 at her home.

Sharon was born April 12, 1943 in Portland, Oregon, the daughter of James Addison Rhinebold and Eileen Mable Tallman Robinson. She was raised in Portland and a graduate of Clackamas High School in Milwaukie, Oregon. After high school, she enlisted in the U.S. Army. Following her Honorable Discharge, she moved to Illinois, where she stayed home to raise her family. Once her children were in school, she worked numerous jobs. In the early 1990s, she moved to the Dallas City and Niota area and was employed by Sheaffer Pen, Methode and IAAP.

She enjoyed reading, sewing and watching TV.

Survivors include four children: Ronnie Britt Jr. of Milan, Illinois, Rebecca “Becky” Dooley of Dallas City, Darrell “Rusty” Britt of North Dakota and Tammy Knuckels of Cambridge, Illinois; seven grandchildren: Mike Britt, Chris Britt, Gabby Britt, Zoey Britt, Marina Knuckels, Maxwell Knuckels and Madelyn Knuckels and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home.
