Mrs. Marietta Schaefer, 88, of Stronghurst, Illinois passed away at 6:24 AM Tuesday, November, 1, 2011 at the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst.

She was born on August 2, 1923 in West Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard and Evelyn Enfield Kleinkopf. On June 17, 1944 she married Karl R. Schaefer in Gainesville, Texas.
Mrs. Schaefer was a longtime resident of Lomax where she and her husband owned and operated the Schaefers Dairy Sweet from 1959 - 1984. She enjoyed sewing, doing crafts on plastic canvas and crocheting. She was a member of the Lomax Christian Church where she had served as president of the C.W.F.

She is survived by her husband, 5 sons, James Lewis (Tina Hill) Schaefer of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Tim William Schaefer of Burlington, IA, Thomas Edward (Rita) Schaefer of Dallas City, IL, Jonathan Lee (Cathy) Schaefer of Lomax and Karl (Sarah) Schaefer Jr. of Lomax, 9 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 step-brother, Ralph Kleinkopf of Middletown, IA.
She was preceded in death by 2 grandsons.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Lomax Christian Church with Rev. Peggy Stott officiating. Burial will be held at a later date at the Carman Cemetery. The family will meet with friends Friday, November 11th from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. A memorial fund has been established for the Lomax Christian Church or the Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab.
