Russell R. Phillips, 84, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away at 10:52 A.M. Monday, July 18, 2011 at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Facility.

He was born on October 27, 1926 near LaHarpe, Illinois, the son of Wyatt and Helen Mary Reed Phillips. In 1951, he was married to Marilyn Bergmeier. They later divorced.

Mr. Phillips was a graduate of the Blandinsville, Illinois High School. He had lived most of his adult life in Dallas City where he was a commercial fisherman.

He is survived by 1 daughter, Joslyn Newton of Omaha, Nebraska, 4 grandsons, Bobby, David, Joseph and Isaac Newton, 9 great-grandchildren, 1great-great-granddaughter, 1 sister, Rosalie Haddix of Blandinsville and 2 brothers, Bobby Phillips of Dallas City and Joe Phillips of Macomb, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Lula Phillips, and 3 sisters, Ruby Robbins, Virginia Hainline and Peggy Shelts.

Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at the LaHarpe Cemetery with Rev. Lisa Cato-Crider officiating. There will be no visitation.
