Obituary

Mr. Roy W. Tubbs, 65, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away Sunday, April 8, 2012 at his home.

He was born August 17, 1946 in Fort Madison, the son of William H. and Lyla Louise Albers Tubbs.

Roy graduated from Fort Madison High School in 1964 and then attended the Electrical Institute in Kansas City, MO for 2 years. He was also a graduate of R.O.T.C. and served in the US Army from 1966 - 1976 as a 1st Lieutenant. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He also served in the Iowa National Guard.

Following his military service he lived in California, Mesa, AZ and the past 25 years in Myrtle Beach where he worked in maintenance at 2 hotels.

He is survived by 1 brother, Dennis (Ellie) Tubbs of Carthage, IL, 1 sister, Marlene (George) Walters of Dallas City, IL, 3 nephews and 1 niece.

He was preceded in death by 1 brother, Gary Tubbs and his parents.

Graveside services with Military Rites will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Madison. Father Tom Szydlik will officiate. A memorial fund has been established for Incare Home Health and Hospice, 4685 Hwy. 17 Bypass South, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588.
Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City is in charge of arrangements.
