Rowena Luder Thompson

Mrs. Rowena Luder Thompson, 92, of Dallas City, IL passed away at 7:00 AM Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at the Hillside Living home in Dallas City.

She was born May 19, 1919 in LaHarpe, IL, the daughter of Ross and Ruth Grate Blackhurst. On June 25, 1950 she married James Dorn Luder in Mexico, MO. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1985. Later, she married Wendell Thompson on June 17, 1987. He died April 27, 1989.

Rowena was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Carthage, IL, the American Legion Auxiliary 297, the First Christian Church, Senior Citizens, and RSVP all of Dallas City. She was also coordinator for the Meals Plus program in Dallas City. She had worked at the Burlington Medical Center for 12 years as an LPN.

She is survived by 4 daughters, Ruthann (J.B.) Smith of Galesburg, IL, Charlene (friend Harold Northup Sr.) Peterson, Sydney (Jack) Kline all of Dallas City and Arnell (Gus) Campagna of Strongsville, OH, 1 son Dorn (Sally) Luder of Dallas City, 17 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands and 1 great-grandson.

Services will be held at 2:30 PM Friday, April 27, 2012 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Jim Luder officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3:00 PM Thursday where Eastern Star Rites will be held at 6:00 PM followed by visitation with the family until 8:00 PM. A memorial Fund has been established for Hillside Living or St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
