Mr. Ronald Arlo Kesterke, 72, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away at 3:15 a.m. on Thursday, December 26, 2013 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.

Ronald was born on July 5, 1941 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the son of Arlo and Hazel Morrill Kesterke. On September 25, 1965 he married Josephine(Jo) K. Proctor at the Dallas City Christian Church.

Mr. Kesterke lived in Dallas City a for most of his life. He was a 1959 graduate of Dallas City High School, and attended Burlington Junior College for 2 years. Ronald served in the Army from 1965-1968. He served as a volunteer fireman in Dallas City for over 30 years and served as fire chief for 7 years. He worked at Iowa State Industries for 27 years retiring in 1997. Ronald enjoyed hunting, fishing, guns and reloading and was a member of the NRA. He also enjoyed radio-t.v. repair, and collecting coins. Ronald loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Josephine, one son, Darren (Kim) Kesterke of Dallas City, one daughter, Deanna (Rich) Huss of Dallas City, 4 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, one brother, Terry (Bev) Kesterke of West Burlington, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at Banks and Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. Burial with military rites will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the Dallas City Fire Department, the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, or to the charity of the donors choice.
