Ronald Eugene Hobby. 59 of rural Media, Illinois died at 7:50 p.m. Thursday December 20, 2012 at his home. He was born April 21, 1953 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the son of Eugene and Elma Owsley Hobby. On February 26, 2000, he married Rhonda Williamson in London Mills, Illinois.

Ron was a general foreman at Maytag in Galesburg, Illinois for thirty two years, retiring in 2004. He then farmed near Raritan, IL, and also restored tractors and automobiles in his shop at home. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Survivors include his wife, his parents of rural Media, three daughters- Cami Hobby of Peoria, IL., Courtney Boyer of London Mills, IL., Rhonda Engle of Hermon, IL., five sons- Kent (Marta) Edmonson of Dunlap, IL., Colby Edmonson of Farmington, IL., Dustin (Thea) Hobby of Abingdon, IL., Arron Hobby of Hermon, IL., Josh Shultz of Farmington, IL, seven grandchildren, two step grandchildren, one sister - Coni Hobby of Macomb, IL., and one brother - Rick Hobby of Smithshire, IL. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday December 27, 2012 at Banks & Beals with Aaron Baker officiating. Burial will be in the Raritan Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established.
