Obituary

Mrs. Roma L. Pindell, 95, of Macomb, IL, formerly of Dallas City, IL, passed away at 11:15 PM Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born on March 5, 1919 in Lomax, IL, to Kenneth and Hattie Gittings Noland. In 1934 she married Ed Pindell. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1990.

She and Ed farmed and raised livestock for many years in the Carthage, IL and Augusta and Bowen, IL area, until retiring to rural Dallas City in the late 1970's.

Roma was a member of the First Christian Church in Dallas City where she was active serving on committees and teaching Sunday school and Bible school over the years. She was also on the town park board and donated a tree which still stands in Dallas City by the Lincoln rock. She owned the Busy Box where she quilted and sewed for her family as well as for others. Roma also took art classes and enjoyed painting landscapes, old barns and farm houses.

Her hobbies included sewing, reading, painting, gardening, and in later years attending any sporting event or musical event that her great-grandchildren were participating in. In 2013 she was the most experienced gardener in the Macomb Garden Club, and she pointed out to them many times that she was the boss.

Roma in survived by one son, Bob, of Bridgeport, NE, one daughter, Katie (David) Kerr of Macomb. Other survivors include her grandchildren, Dale (Denise) Pindell of Rushville, IL, Lora (Ken) Vogler of Rushville, IL, Priscilla (Kelly) McElroy of Quincy, IL, Tim (Michelle) Kerr of Augusta, Lorree Kerr of Macomb and Nathan Pindell of Macomb, great-grandchildren, Chris (Andrea) Vogler of Rushville, Heather (Larry) Putnam of Jacksonville, FL, Ryan and Kayla McElroy of Quincy, Alexandra, Abigail, Anika, and Carson Kerr of Augusta, great-great-granddaughters, Josey, Katelyn and Devin Vogler of Rushville, one brother, Max (Sue) Noland of Palisades, CO and one sister-in-law, Dorothy Pindell of Niota, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ed, sisters, Zona Hobby, Marietta Townsend and Mabel Golden, and brothers, Larry, Reine and Bill Noland and an infant brother and sister.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00p.m. Monday, March 31, 2014 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00a.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the First Christian Church in Dallas with Rev. Will Fowler officiating. Burial will be in Harris Cemetery, rural Dallas City.
