Rodney H. Swanson, 93, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away at 11:27 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2024 at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst, Illinois.

He was born in LaHarpe on October 24, 1931 the son of Herman and Lelah Ingstrom Swanson. On January 28, 1961 he married Judy Collins in LaHarpe. She preceded him in death on September 12, 2020.

Rodney was a 1949 graduate of LaHarpe High School. He later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He farmed near LaHarpe all of his life and also was a substitute mail carrier for many years.

He is survived by three sons, Carl (Leesa) Swanson of Terre Haute, Illinois, Kyle (Denise) Swanson of LaHarpe and Eric Swanson of Normal, Illinois, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Besides his wife, Judy, he was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Betty Cox.

No services are planned. Burial will be held at a later date in the LaHarpe Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Carnegie Public Library.
