Mr. Robert Guy Williams, 97, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 8:18 A.M. at the Gilpin Home in Dallas City.

He was born April 6, 1911 in Pinola, Mississippi, the son of Robert Houston and Tina Lee Williams. On September 21, 1932 he married Velma J. Clover in Stronghurst, Illinois. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2003.

Following his marriage he began farming near Lomax, Illinois. In the 1940's and 50's he owned and operated a jewelry store, first in Fort Madison and later in Burlington, Iowa. In 1954 he returned to Lomax where he farmed until 1961. He continued repairing watches until a few years ago. He was a member and past president of the Burlington Coin Club and was a member and past officer of the National Watchmakers Association. He was also a member of The Lomax Christian Church where he served on the church board and the board of the Lomax Grade School.

He is survived by two daughters, Jean (Stan) St. Ores of Colusa, Illinois and Linda (Jim) Peters of Oxnard, California, one son, Robert (Roberta) Williams of Colorado Springs, Colorado, seven grandchildren, 16, great-grandchildren and three sisters, Willetta Cahill and Marytom Fillette both of Pinola and Ruby Justus of Jackson, Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one grandson and one sister.

Services will be held at 11:00 A. M. Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the Lomax Christian Church with Rev. Peggy Stott officiating. Burial will be in the Crane Cemetery near Lomax. Friends may call at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City after 3:00 P.M. Monday where the family will meet with friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday. A memorial fund has been established for the Lomax Christian Church.
