Robert Franklin Wiley, 85, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away at 7:55 p.m. Friday, June 14, 2019 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa.
Bob was born on September 23, 1933 in Oakville, Iowa the son of Florence "Fuzz" and Mary Wilma Reid Wiley. On September 30, 1956 he married Alice F. Hartman in Mediapolis, Iowa. She preceded him in death on February 9, 2009.
Mr. Wiley was a 1952 graduate of the Morning Sun High School. Following high school he served as Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bob first worked at a rendering plant in Morning Sun and Beckman Locker in Mediapolis. He and his wife moved to LaHarpe in 1966. Together they owned and operated LaHarpe Frozen Foods for 33 years, retiring in 1999. After retirement Bob worked at Weber Meats in Carthage.
He was a member of the LaHarpe Lions Club, LaHarpe American Legion Post #301, Black Hawk Auto Restorers in Burlington, Iowa and served as an EMT-A on the LaHarpe Ambulance Service until retiring in 2008. He enjoyed visiting, playing cards, traveling, time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and watching their sporting events.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra K. (Kevin Shauman) Pence of Kirkwood, Illinois and Debbie (Danny) Evans of LaHarpe, five grandchildren, Shannon (Felecia) Pence, Amber (Jason) Duncan, Andrew (Erica) Pence, Clifford Evans and Skyler (Mariah) Pence, ten great-grandchildren, Sidney, Taylor and Sawyer Pence, Jack, Ellie and Ames Duncan, Raiden Evans, and Adalynn, Levi and Brinley Pence, one uncle, Clinton Bowman of Burlington, four sisters, Darlyne (Larry) Howard of Newton, Iowa, Lucille Anderson of Mediapolis, Iowa, LulaBelle (Claude) Stiger of Muscatine, Iowa and Frances (Clyde) Callis of Springfield, Missouri and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, and one brother, Kenneth Wiley and aunt Marcella Bowman.
The funeral service for Mr. Wiley will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe. Burial with full Military Rites will follow in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 18 at Banks & Beals where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe American Legion Post #301.
