Robert J.White

, age 87 of rural Carman, Illinois died at 5:00 A.M. Thursday July 24, 2008 at his home. He was born January 4, 1921 near Lomax, Illinois, the son of Elmer Eugene and Mable E. Rucker White. On March 17, 1948, he married Annabell Rankin in Kirkwood, Illinois.

Mr. White was a 1938 graduate of Stronghurst High School. He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. Following his military service, he returned to the Stronghurst and Carman area, where he farmed all of his life. He was a member of the Stronghurst American Legion, Stronghurst Lions Club, and the Stronghurst United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, three sons - David ( and Pam) White and Bill (and Bonna) White, all of Carman, Alan (and Donna) White of Lomax, IL., four grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and one sister - Reva Peterson of Stronghurst. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers- Lyman, Hollis, and Gordon White.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday July 28, 2008 in the Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Chaplain Jim Haneghan officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in the Terre Haute Cemetery, Terre Haute, Illinois. Friends may call after noon on Sunday at Banks & Beals, where the family will receive friends from 3:00 until 5:00 P.M. Sunday. Memorials have been established for the Henderson County Health Department and the Stronghurst American Legion.
