Mr. Robert L. Stevens, 76, of Burlington, IA passed away at 8:16 PM Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at the Donnellson Health Care Center, Donnellson, IA.

Robert was born on April 19, 1939 in LaHarpe, IL the son of Charles and Marie Newman Stevens. On July 18, 1959 he married Donna Marlene Porter; they later divorced. He married Jaqueline Sue Iverson on June 18, 1971; they later divorced.

Mr. Stevens was a 1957 graduate of the LaHarpe High School. Robert worked as a police officer for the Burlington Police Department for 31 years, beginning in May, 1961 and retiring in January, 1992. For six years he worked as a detective for the Department.

Survivors include six children, Laurie (Tim) Krebill of Donnellson, IA, Christine (Glen) Guy of Santa Cruz, CA, Kelley (Alan) Bowen of Portsmouth, NH, Mr. Kerry (Chris) Stevens of Dallas City, IL, Connie (Steve) Engberg of Mt. Pleasant, IA, Dana Capaldi of Perryton, TX, 11 grandchildren and 5 step-grandchildren

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A private family service will be held at a later date. A Memorial Fund has been established for the Burlington Police Department Auxiliary and the Des Moines County Humane Society.
