Mr. Robert W. Heather, 47, of Burlington, Iowa passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011 in Coralville, Iowa.
He was born on February 25, 1964 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Donald Wayne and Rebecca Mae Meier Heather.
Robert was a graduate of Central Lee High School and served in the US Navy for 21 years. He was a welder in the Navy and worked at the ship yards in Virginia following his military service.
He is survived by his mother and step-father, Rebecca and Terry Newberry of Pontoosuc, Illinois, 3 sons, Robert Heather of Hawaii, Donnie Heather of West Virginia and Ryan Heather of Pennsylvania, 2 daughters, Amber Heather of Michigan and Rachel Heather of Pennsylvania, 1 sister, Sherri Lynn Pender of Burlington, Iowa, 2 nephews and many aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
Following cremation, graveside services, with Military Rites, will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday May 18, 2011 at the Montrose Cemetery, Montrose, Iowa with Pastor Algie Peterson officiating. As Robert loved all animals, memorials may be made to the PAWS Animal Shelter in Fort Madison, Iowa. Everyone is invited to a luncheon following the service at the Dallas City Senior Citizens Center. Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, Illinois is assisting with arrangements.
