Mrs. Rita Teresa Vanderlip, 89, of Dallas City, IL passed away at 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 19, 2014 at Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab in Stronghurst, IL.

She was born on October 27, 1924 in Chippewa, Ontario, Canada the daughter of Norman Edwin and Elsie Hazel Steele Myers. In 1943 she married Fredrick Edwin Vanderlip in St. Davids, Ontario, Canada. He preceded her in death on August 17, 1998.

Rita had worked in accounts receivables as a supervisor for Avondale Dairy Ltd. in Niagra, Ontario for 38 years retiring in 1986. After retiring she moved to Las Vegas, NV and most recently to Dallas City. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dallas City.

She is survived by one daughter, Cheri Lee Vanderlip of Little York, IL. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Melinda Downey.

No services will be held. Her ashes will be interred at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada at a later date. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for the Sacred Heart Catholic Church or Oak Lane Nursing & Rehab.
