Ricky Gale Hobby

Ricky Gale Hobby, 52 of Smithshire, Illinois, died at 8:50 a.m. Monday June 24, 2013 at his home. He was born April 16,1961 in Galesburg, Illinois, the son of Eugene and Elma Owsley Hobby.

Rick was a graduate of Southern High School in Stronghurst. He had worked as a sanitation foreman for twenty years and later farmed with his father and brother. He was a member of the Old Bedford Christian Church.

Survivors include his parents of rural Stronghurst, his fiancee, Karen French of Smithshire, one sister- Coni (Dan Sigwart) Hobby of Macomb, IL., one sister in law- Rhonda Hobby and aunts and uncles, including Gary (Doris) Armstrong, Carlyn (Phil) Anders, and Robert Owsley. He was preceded in death by one brother- Ronnie Hobby.

The funeral service for Ricky Hobby will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday June 27, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst with Aaron Baker and Lee Unger officiating. Burial will be in the Raritan Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Banks & Beals, where the family will be present from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society.
