Barbara J. Rettig

Mrs. Barbara J. Rettig, 78, of Dallas City, IL passed away at 4:43AM Thursday, April 25, 2013 at the West Point Care Center, West Point, IA.

Mrs. Rettig was born on October 11, 1934 in Lomax, IL the daughter of Ray and Mildred VanHyning Jolley. She married Merlin Pete Rettig on June 22, 1952. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2006. She then married Donald Scott on May 24, 2009. He preceded her in death on November 28, 2010.

Barbara attended Grade School in Lomax and was a graduate of Dallas City High School. She and her husband, Pete, worked and managed condominiums in Texas and Minneapolis before retiring in 1994 and moving back to Dallas City. She enjoyed fishing, dancing, in her younger days, and was a Chicago Cubs fan.

She is survived by 2 sons, Brad (Pam) Rettig of Dallas City and Jamie (Susan) Rettig of Donnellson, IA, 2 daughters, Bobbi (Hazel Dohman) Leggett of West Point, IA and Ruth Mitchell of Dallas City, 15 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 1 brother, John (Joyce) Jolley of Parkersburg, IA and 1 sister, Janice (Dick) Bice of Des Moines, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 1 daughter, Terri Bryant, 1 grandson and 1 granddaughter.

Services will be held at 3:00PM Monday, April 29, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev Bettyanna Bremer officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00PM until time of service Monday at the funeral home. A private family burial will be held in the Crane Cemetery near Lomax.
