Rella H. Bice, 93, of Macomb, IL, formerly of LaHarpe, IL, passed away May 29, 2017 at the Wesley Village Health Care Facility in Macomb,

She was born July 14, 1923 to Vernon and Lodine Carpenter Hopkins in Lomax, IL. On August 16, 1942 she married Marion Bice in Lomax, IL. He preceded her in death on May 10, 2011.

Rella was a devoted wife and mother. She worked for Dr. Laverne Myers and then Dr. Steve Rodeffer in the LaHarpe Dental Office for 25 years. After retiring, she and Marion moved to Wesley Village in 2008.

Rella loved to read and was a member of the LaHarpe Christian Church where she loved serving in many capacities. She was also an active member of the LaHarpe DAR Chapter for many years. While residing in Macomb she attended Maple Avenue Christian Church.

She is survived by one daughter, Sheila (Demming) Moon of Macomb, sister-in-law, Jean Hopkins of Higginsville, MO, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Clinton and Eleanor Sears of Macomb, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 68 years, one brother, William Hopkins, four sisters-in-law, Mildred Sticklen, Lucille Rodeffer, Maxine Long and Eileen Purdy, and two brothers-in-law, Robert and Ben Bice.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in LaHarpe with Donnie Case and Nate McCarter officiating. Burial will be held in the LaHarpe Cemetery. Friends may call Monday at the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe Christian Church, Maple Avenue Christian Church, Wesley Village, or MDH Hospice.
