Rebecca L. Rettig, 59, of Iowa City, IA passed away at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City.

She was born on October 10, 1956 in Fort Madison, IA the daughter of William G. and Martha Bell Bice Rea. In July of 1977 she married Gary J. Rettig. They later divorced.

Rebecca grew up in Niota, IL and was a 1974 graduate of the Nauvoo High School, Nauvoo, IL. She worked at Methode in Carthage, IL and also cared for the elderly. She had resided in Iowa City for the past 16 years.

Survivors include, one daughter, Lisa (Evan) Sara of Dallas, TX, one step-granddaughter, Ally Sara, two brothers, Rick Rea of Niota, IL and Roger Rea of Evington, Virginia and two sisters, Rhonda Chamlee of Jonesboro, AR and Rita Renshaw of Burlington, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Roxanna Petty.

The family will receive friends from noon until 2:00 Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City followed by a graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Thornber Cemetery, Powellton, IL.
