Raymond L. Olson, 74, of Dallas City, Illinois, passed away at 10:51 a.m. Sunday, December 28, 2025 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

Raymond was born December 30, 1950 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the son of William A. "Andy" and Jean (Anderson) Olson. On October 10, 1972 he married Pamela Jean Daniels in Dallas City. She preceded him in death on April 12, 1998.

Mr. Olson was raised on a farm near Dallas City and graduated from Dallas City High School in 1969. He attended Robert Morris College in Carthage before beginning at career with the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison. He took a leave of absence from working to help care for his wife. After returning to the work force, he was employed by the Department of Corrections in Oakdale, Iowa, the Iowa Correctional Institution in Mitchellville, Iowa, and later the Burlington Residential Facility, until his retirement.

He enjoyed taking scenic drives, fishing, watching RFD TV and traveling, especially traveling to North Carolina to see family.

Survivors include two children: Tedra (Scott) Edwards of Fort Madison and Thomas Olson of Dallas City; four grandchildren: Ethan Olson Floyd, Sheldon Edwards, Trey Edwards and Trevor Edwards; four siblings: Robert (Mary) Olson of Revere, Missouri, Stephen (Hope) Olson of Dallas City, Tom Olson of Fort Madison and Andrea (Rick) Wibbell of Dallas City and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Nancy Olson and one niece: Brooke Wisener.

Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Raymond's Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10 , 2026 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City. Burial will follow in Harris Cemetery, Dallas City.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until time of services.
