Ray Sheldon "Tuffy" St. Clair

Mr. Ray Sheldon Tuffy St. Clair, 88, of LaHarpe, Illinois passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010 at 10:13 P.M. at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center.

He was born April 1, 1922 in Henderson County, Illinois, the son of Roy Fredrick and Ruby Jane (Freeman) St. Clair. On March 29, 1947 he married Doris A. Steepleton in Burlington, Iowa.

Mr. St. Clair was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army from 1942 - 1945. He worked for the TP & W Railroad and later the BNSF Railroad, retiring in 1986 after 30 years. He was a member of the LaHarpe American Legion post 301 and the Carthage VFW Post 5117.

He is survived by his wife, 1 daughter, Sheila Reid of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 2 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents , 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Graveside services with Military Rites will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 5, 2010 at the LaHarpe Cemetery. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund has been established for the LaHarpe-Davier Care Center or the LaHarpe American Legion. Banks & Beals Funeral Home, LaHarpe is assisting with arrangements.
