Obituary

Randy Dean Geissler, 65, of LaHarpe, Illinois, passed away Friday, August 23, 2024 at the family farm, near Basco, Illinois, as a result of a farming accident. He passed away doing what he loved most following his retirement.

Randy was born April 6, 1959 in Carthage, Illinois, the son of William "Bill" and June (Metternich) Geissler. On February 14, 1987 he married Sarah Board in Quincy, Illinois. She survives.

Randy was a 1978 graduate of Hamilton High School. While in high school, he worked for Bergman Farm Supply in Carthage. Following high school he worked for area farmers before beginning a 36 year career with LaHarpe Equipment and West Central FS, retiring in 2021.

Mr. Geissler enjoyed cruising on his side-by-side, working in the garage, mowing at the farm, going to auctions, watching the Kansas City Cheifs and NASCAR races. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events.

Besides his wife, Sarah, survivors include three daughters: Miranda Geissler, Abby (Lee) Wittler and Alicia (Logan) Long all of LaHarpe; five grandchildren: Brooklynn and Kora VanWinkle, Kayden and Karter Wittler and Guysen Long; his siblings: Jerry (Kathy) Geissler of Basco, William Geissler Jr. of Warsaw, Donnie Geissler of Carthage, Dennis (Lisa) Geissler of Basco, Vicki (Randy) Campbell of Hamilton and Cindy Harris of Queen Creek, Arizona and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is his beloved dog, Daisy May.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Robert Geissler; one sister-in-law: Teresa Geissler and one brother-in-law: Jeff Harris.

Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the LaHarpe Christian Church where the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.

The funeral service for Randy will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the LaHarpe Christian Church with his nephew, Doug Campbell, officiating. Burial will follow in Moss Ridge Cemetery, Carthage.

Banks & Beals Funeral Home of LaHarpe is assisting the family.
