Mrs. Phyllis Darlene Welborn, 85, of Dallas City, Illinois passed away Friday, April 13, 2012 at 2:25 PM at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.
She was born September 6, 1926 in Lomax, Illinois, the daughter of Clifford and Helen Logan Thompson. On December 31, 1954 she married Carl H. Welborn in Macomb, Illinois. He preceded her in death on December 11, 2009.
Mrs. Welborn had worked for Sheaffer Pen Co. in Fort Madison, IA and for Winegard Co. in Burlington, IA. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Dallas City. She was devoted to service in the church, enjoyed gardening and loved her home and family.
She is survived by two sons, Ted (Mary) Welborn of St. Louis, Missouri and Paul (Linda) Welborn of Keokuk, Iowa, one daughter, Cindy (Jeff) Love of Terre Haute, Illinois, 10 grandchildren, Ann Wallenmeyer, Carol Markway, Sandra Harden, Emily Hill, Abby Welborn, Maria Welborn, Jessica Doran, Sybil Baxa, Hannah Jones and Zephaniah Love, 7 great-grandchildren, Brittney, Courtney, Alyssa, Kylee, Josie, Teddy and Melinda and 1 sister, Lois Benda of Atlanta, Missouri and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 sisters, Pearl Welborn and Luella Hubbard and 1 brother, Robert Thompson.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, April 16, 2012 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Pastor Will Fowler officiating. Burial will be in the Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. The family will meet with friends Sunday from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established for the First Christian Church of Dallas City.
