Phyllis Louise Shepard, 85, of Wapello, Iowa, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2020 at the Wapello Specialty Care.

Phyllis was born on June 22, 1935 in Clark Co, Mo to Edgar and Mildred (Oard) Burkett. She married Francis Franklin Shepard at the Blandinsville Baptist Church on June 29, 1952. He preceded her in death on May 25, 1982.

Phyllis was employed at Western Illinois University. She and Francis lived in the Sciota, Illinois area most of their adult life. Her greatest joy was her two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Survivors include one son, Dennis (Ann) Shepard of Wapello; one daughter, Carolyn Louise Shepard of Nobleville Indiana; two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; husband and four siblings, Wendle, Glenn, Frank and Darlene.

Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home. A private burial will be held in the La Harpe Cemetery.
