Phyllis M. Cole, 83, of Media, Illinois passed away at 8:41 p.m. Thursday March 22, 2018 at OSF Medical Center in Peoria, Illinois. She was born April 18, 1934 in Media, the daughter of Floyd and Gladys Littrel Link. On March 25, 1951, she married Charles Cole in Burlington, Iowa.
Phyllis was a graduate of Media-Wever High School, and a lifetime resident of Media. Besides being a full time mother to four sons, she was co-owner of, and an integral part of the operation of, Cole Implement Company for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing cards, square dancing, and especially loved family gatherings. She was a member of the Burlington Moose Lodge and the Media Community Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, three sons, Larry (Christine) Cole of Davenport, IA, Ed (Karen) Cole of Gladstone, IL, Mike (Terri) Cole of Stronghurst, one daughter in law, Kathy Cole of Media, IL, seven grandchildren, Miranda Webster, Tanner Cole, Jake Cole, Kate Cole, Bryan Cole, Amy Gipe, Chrissy Erickson, fourteen great grandchildren, Piper, Kalee, Lydia, Shaden, Marissa, Kingston, Carson, Morgan, Lexie, Josie, Axel, Chalen,Callie, Carlee ,and one brother, Kenneth Link of Tempe, AZ. She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Cole, two great grandchildren, Collin Cole and Jackson Gipe, four brothers, William, Glen, Harvey, and Charles Link, and three sisters, Laura Link, Louise Cole, and Luella Bowen.
Visitation will be from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday March 26, 2018 at Banks & Beals with Pastor Phil Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery near Media.
