Obituary

Pearl Mabe, age 78, of Gladstone, Illinois, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 at Prairie City Rehab & Health Care Center in Prairie City, Illinois. She was born November 8, 1940 in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of George and Viola Bundy Waterman. On December 9, 1959, She married Robert Lee Mabe in Burlington. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2001.

Mrs. Mabe lived most of her adult life in Gladstone. She was employed at the former Lehigh-Leopold Company in Burlington for many years. She later was an in-home care giver for many local families.

Survivors include one daughter, Alice (Byron) Sebastian of Gladstone, two sons, Robert (Crystal) Mabe Jr. of Gladstone, Rex Mabe of Hopper, IL, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, three sisters, Edna Keever of Gladstone, Georgia Walker and Gladys Bigger, both of Burlington, and one brother, Ernie Waterman, of Stronghurst. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one granddaughter, Allison Mabe, and two sisters, Edith Crawford and Kate Waterman.

The funeral for Mrs. Mabe will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday November 20, 2018 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Stronghurst, with Steve Minkler officiating. Burial will follow in the Hopper Cemetery, rural Stronghurst. No visitation is planned. A memorial fund has been established for the Henderson County Humane Society.
