Mrs. Pauline M. Hedges, 81, of rural Niota, IL passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at her home.

Pauline was born October 23, 1931 in Dallas City, IL the daughter of Paul and Myrtle Carlson Welborn. She married James A. Hedges Jr. on December 24, 1950 in Dallas City. He preceded her in death on September 4, 1992.

She was a graduate of the Dallas City High School. She worked for Schaeffer Pen Co. in Ft. Madison, Sears & Roebuck Store in Richmond, VA and helped her husband run a Grocery Store and Gas Station in Mechanicsville, VA. Pauline enjoyed watching birds, her cats and attending the Pontoosuc Community Church.

Mrs. Hedges is survived by one daughter, Paulette Hedges of Rio Vista, IL, two sons, Robert Hedges of Niota and Stanley Hedges of Pontoosuc, IL, one grandson, Michael Hedges of Niota, and two great-grandchildren, Halee and Hanna Hedges.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James, five brothers and 1 sister.

Services will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City with Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will be held in Harris Cemetery near Dallas City. Friends may call after 3:00PM Friday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00PM. A memorial fund has been established.
