Paul Eustace Vantiger Jr., 69, of Pontoosuc, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Fort Madison, Iowa.

Paul was born August 24, 1956, in Fort Madison, the son of Paul E. and Darlene (Derr) Vantiger Sr. On July 21, 1982 he married Alice Worley in Carthage, Illinois. She survives.

Paul was a 1975 graduate of Fort Madison High School. He spent most of his life doing what he loved, farming. He farmed for himself and assisted other local farmers. He also worked for Fuehauf Inc., Schroeder Construction, both in Fort Madison, Knife River Construction in Sioux City, Iowa and was an independent truck driver. He was a jack-of-all-trades. Earlier in life, he enjoyed hunting with his wife and recently tending to his cats.

Besides his wife, survivors include four children: Derrick Morrison of Springfield, Missouri, Jaime (Eddie) Waterman of Dallas City, Heather (Tim Howard) Vantiger of Denmark, Iowa and Josh Vantiger of Pontoosuc; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and four siblings: Alan (Jeanne) Vantiger, Mary Beth Seberg, Julie (Jim) Steffen and Patty Vandenberg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother in infancy and one sister: Lynn Chipman.

Cremation has been entrusted to Banks & Beals Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Paul’s Life will be held from 10:00 a.m. until noon Saturday, April 4, 2026 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City.
