Paul Wayne Scanlan, 71, of Niota, Illinois, passed away at 11:45 p.m. Friday, June 21, 2024 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.

Paul was born March 24, 1953 in LaHarpe, Illinois, the son of William and Opal (Smith) Scanlan Jr.

Paul was a 1972 graduate of Nauvoo-Colusa High School. He worked in maintenance, locally, and in the Chicago area. Later, he worked as a farmhand for local farmers.

He enjoyed tinkering on cars and motorcycles, listening to music, especially classic rock and riding motorcycles.

Survivors include one son: PJ Scanlan of Niota; two brothers: Bill (Rita) Scanlan of Ft. Madison, Iowa and Frank (Wanda) Scanlan of Leisure Land, Illinois and his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Banks & Beals Funeral Home of Dallas City is assisting the family.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2024 at LaHarpe Cemetery.
