Obituary

Patrick Bakker, 56, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026 in Overland Park.

Patrick was born May 24, 1970 in the Netherlands, the son of Robert and Wil (Ouwerkerk) Bakker. On November 30, 2002 he married Michele Butler at the Terre Haute United Methodist Church in Terre Haute, Illinois.

Mr. Bakker was raised and educated in Maassluis, the Netherlands and received his bachelors degree in Computer Science while in the Netherlands. He began his career employed by KYOCERA Europe and in 2002 transferred to KYOCERA America in Kansas City, where he worked until 2007. He was currently employed by R.K. Black Inc. in Overland Park.

Patrick was a history and sports car buff. He enjoyed spending time in nature, especially on the farm. He enjoyed taking trips home to the Netherlands to see his family, whom he loved and missed beyond measure. He also loved the Terre Haute community and was most at peace there. He loved his American family, Gary and Sherry Butler, and Michele’s siblings, brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews deeply. He especially enjoyed his visits to The Pink.

He was currently serving as President of The Dutch Club in Kansas City. He was a member of the Life Church in Overland Park and the Home Owners Association. He always had a willingness to help others, a kindness about him, a driven personality with a strong work ethic and most importantly, he was a believer in Jesus Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Michele Bakker; five children: Melanie (Tim) Bakker, Steven (Haneke) Bakker, Olivia Bakker, Ava Bakker and Madelyn Bakker; his parents: Robert and Wil, and one sister: Marcella (Ruud) Bakker. Also surviving is his beloved dog: Hazel.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents.
