Mr. J. Douglas Olson, 61, of Fort Madison, IA, formerly of Dallas City, IL passed away at 11:13 AM Sunday, February 14, 2016 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital. He was born on May 4, 1954 in Tucson, AZ the son of Gary M. And Betty Klossing Olson.

Doug raised in Dallas City and was a 1972 graduate of the Dallas City High School. He then attended the ITT Technical Institute in Evansville, IN. He worked as a carpenter and electrician for D & L Development in Fort Madison. Mr. Olson also performed various jobs for people in the Fort Madison area. He was a master gardener and was very involved in the Fort Madison Community Garden Club. Doug enjoyed working as a projectionist for the Lights Camera Action organization in Fort Madison where also served as their vice-president.

Doug is survived by his mother, Betty Olson of Dallas City, one brother, Greg Olson of Dallas City, nephew Jarod Olson of Dallas City and one great-niece, Raena Olson.
He was preceded in death by his father and nephew, Jacob Olson.

A graveside service will be held at a later date at Harris Cemetery, Dallas City. A memorial fund has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society. Contributions may be mailed to Memorial Fund, C/O Banks & Beals Funeral Home, PO Box 70, Dallas City, IL 62330.
